Since then, he’s done various projects here and there including a soundtrack for the film  Maryland in 2015 and production on two tracks by The Weeknd on the EP My Dark Melancholy . Swedish DJ/producer duo CAZZETTE have been a hot commodity ever since the release of their massive singles like “Beam Me Up” and “Sleepless.” To this day, they’ve consistently put out new material and toured the globe, remaining one of the more respected acts in the industry. Snails just proposed the DJ game of the century — and we think this needs to happen. The concept is simple: every DJ down to play the game preps a flash drive. Which, is common practice. Where it gets interesting through is that all the DJs must put their USB in a bucket. Each performer then chooses a random USB from said bucket. Then, everyone must play an entire set with the random USB they picked. Further rules of the proposed game address USB content. Most importantly, there must be at least an hour of playable content on all of the thumb drives. We have a feeling more needs to be hashed out before game play, and some others are already chiming in. Twitter is considering removing its “like” button and the reason why actually makes a lot of sense… As we scroll through our feeds, we’re all guilty of lazily “liking” something. Those “likes” go into a sort of Twitter purgatory, most likely never to be seen again. How often do we go back to something we “liked” to engage with it? Well, just like everything else on the platform, Twitter is reconsidering the like button altogether. Multiple reports have surfaced, saying the social media giant has plans to remove the “like” tool to improve the quality of debate. We only just got a new track from 1788-L last Friday , a remix of The Glitch Mob’s “Disintegrating Slowly,” and now we’re already getting another. This time, a new original with TYNAN , “Abyss,” which has been teased at any of 1788-L’s shows while on tour with Ekali and Rezz. It’s hard to place “Abyss” within any single genre, as it moves between dubstep, midtempo, and drum & bass elements throughout the song. It’s also considerably more frenetic than many of 1788-L’s past tracks, though it seems to fit right in with TYNAN’s growing discography. This past weekend, 11 people lost their lives at Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. In the following hours, President Trump hosted a political event in Indiana which addressed, among other things, the tragic news. During the event, Pharrell’s song “Happy” was played. Pharrell and his team have since sent a cease and desist letter to the president, explicitly denying permission to the president for use of the song. Williams’s attorney, Howard King, wrote in a letter on behalf of his client, “On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist,’ you played his song ‘Happy’ to a crowd at a political event in Indiana. As much as I absolutely detest the original “Mo Bamba” by Sheck Wes (fight me), I’m going to have this new re-crank from Crankdat on repeat as much as possible. The young producer just dropped the remix for Halloween, so you know you’ve got to add it to your pre-game playlist for tomorrow. The beginning of the remix starts just the same as the original, right up until the modulated vocals about 25 seconds in. It’s hard to describe, but you immediately get this sense of, “Oh fuck, shit’s about to go down.” And sure enough, the drop comes only moments later and throws a wild wall of synths in your face. The sustained notes call back to the dubstep days of old, though it’s a noticeably more modern hybrid bass sound. The final drop is the same as the first, albeit far more gritty and a bit darker. In February 2016, Paul van Dyk fell 10 meters off the stage at A State Of Trance 750, sustaining a concussion and cracked vertebra in his back. The recovery took a speedy three months, during which time van Dyk underwent physical therapy and surgery for his injury. Armin van Buuren, founder of Armada Records and A State Of Trance, said that the moment was one of the toughest of his career, having to see van Dyk fall off his stage and worry for his safety while moving quickly to shut down the stage. However, during a very open discussion at Amsterdam Dance Event this year, van Dyk paints a different picture of the aftermath. “Up to this point, none of these guys involved picked up the phone to call me and ask me how I am,” he said. The interesting thing about Russian singer and composer Elza is that while her debut solo album  Nothing’s Wrong , it seems that though her work is clearly in the wheelhouse of experimental indie punk, it’s clear that she has a real knack for sound design. The way this comes through, aside from her extremely clean composition, is in the very subtle ambient electronica that infiltrates almost every track on the album. While the general public waits for the album to drop on November 2, examples of this ambient sound design phenomenon are present in the first two singles off  Nothing’s Wrong,  “Swayed” and “Endeavor.” Apparently Elza  has traveled all over the world to hone her sound, studying sound design and engineering in Tel Aviv and Vancouver before settling in Toronto. Despite deadmau5 ‘s declaration earlier this month that he was taking a break to seek professional help, he still has professional obligations in the music world, including an ongoing mix series on SiriusXM called mau5trap radio. It’s more than likely that this was executed by someone other than deadmau5 himself, especially considering the first 32 minutes are just the  Nightmare on Rezz Street   mix. The first half is followed by some tangentially creepy tunes by the likes of Feed Me, Nero, Chris Lake, Rinzen, Getter, and others. Actually, doubling down on my previous statement, it’s almost certain that this mix wasn’t crafted by deadmau5 himself – especially considering the glaring lack of commentary from Joel. Last week, elements of SoundCloud’s Premier monetization program came under fire in an exclusive investigative report from the Verge . The report stated that many of the elements of the contract were downright bad for artists. In response to the widespread criticism of the contract, SoundCloud has updated the terms and made it more clear and relevant to today’s standards. “While nothing changes in the way we operate the program,”  SoundCloud said in an email to Your EDM, “ we’ve updated the original agreement to ensure it’s clear, and removed any language that may be unnecessary in the open service we have now.
