It’s fine to take inspiration from other sources every once in a while — in fact, in a world where creating something wholly original is basically impossible and people are exposed to more media than they realize, making something similar to something else is pretty much inevitable. However, certain precautions have to be taken to make sure that inspiration doesn’t cross the line into straight up ripping a concept. Apashe’s music video for “Majesty,” from his  Requiem  EP, is a drug-fueled journey following a main character and others riding horses in streetwear in the wilderness. Calvin Harris just released the music video for his collaboration with Rag ‘N’ Bone Man, “Giant.” And while the majority of the video is in an urban setting, the scenes depicting horses and wide open fields are very similar to Apashe’s video. Marshmello lit up the eSports and dance music blogs this week with the news that there would be a special Marshmello dance event within Fortnite this weekend. The leak originally came via Forbes, who reported that the in-game event called “Party at Pleasant Park” is set to take place this Saturday, February 2nd at 2PM ET. In addition to the concert event, players can also complete challenges to collect Marshmello-themed in-game items: a spray, dance, and a Marshmallow-themed pickaxe. The special event challenges are comparable to other in-game challenges, so they shouldn’t take players very long to complete and collect each item. These tasks will be added to your Challenges tab when you next load into the game. You should be given a special notification with a book icon once they’ve been added. Ultra Miami is making the most of its new location in Virginia Key with an all new transportation system. Whether you’re traveling by shuttle or ferry, getting to Ultra should be a breeze this year — if all goes according to plan. “At # Ultra2019 , we’re excited to offer a unique and convenient transportation option — ferry transit!” Ultra shares in a new post. “Skip the drive and arrive to the festival by boat after a short ride across Biscayne Bay.” According to Ultra, ferry transport passes will go on sale soon — unlike shuttles, the ferries will not be free. The 3-day pass will get you transport to and from the festival. Of course, there will be limited quantities offered on a first come, first served basis. Travel time from downtown Miami to the new location at Virginia Key should take under 20 minutes by shuttle. Or, around 8 minutes if traveling from the closest shuttle hub. Travel time by ferry to Virginia Key is estimated to take 30 minutes, but you’ll get better views.

Eleven days ago, a woman in Atlanta’s Opera nightclub filmed herself during what appeared to be a sexual assault. In the live stream posted to Facebook from the club, a man is seen behind her while she cries “somebody, help me” with tears rolling down her face. The response to the video received equal parts vitriol and support; it’s now being reported that an arrest has been made in connection with the incident. According to police, 34-year-old Dominique Williams turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail on Jan. 29 regarding warrants of aggravated sodomy. CID is up for a Grammy Award this year, which is the ultimate kind of recognition in the music industry. The work he did for LSD ( Labrinth , Sia & Diplo ) in the form of his “Audio” remix truly showcases dance music at its finest. Speaking with CID about the remix project, he feels “fortunate” to have been able to rework “Audio.” It’s easy to hear — the track he prepared is dance floor ready and perfect for everyday listening, two huge factors he considers when remixing any track. Rezz is keeping the music flowing! She just announced she’s working on her next project — an EP. Consistency is key and this is a producer dedicated to her craft. Keeping up with a steady stream of new music has allowed her brand to stay fresh and exciting. Most recently, we were treated to a one-off collaboration with Blanke , “ Mixed Signals .” Before that, Rezz unleashed her 10-track Certain Kind of Magic album. The differences between Netflix’s Fyre Festival documentary and Hulu’s are subtle , but the one thing that Hulu didn’t have was Andy King . If the name doesn’t ring a bell, his face, voice, and words will: “I’m like,  ‘Oh my gosh…I’m really’ —and I got into my car to drive across the island to take one for the team. And I got to his office fully prepared to suck his d*ck.” Now in a new interview with Netflix, King says that he’s blown away by the reaction to the documentary. He’s most surprised because he doesn’t have a social media presence of his own. “When someone reached out last weekend and said, ‘you’re trending’, [I was] like, ‘I don’t even know what trending means.’ People are talking about you… and yesterday people were like, ‘you’re a ME ME’, I’m like ‘What’s a ME ME?’” However, King believes that the media attention can be used as a force for good. He’s putting his social weight behind the various GoFundMes working to pay back the laborers and workers of Fyre Festival.

Snapchat ’s entire identity has centered around disappearing stories — but that could all change in a snap! The platform is reportedly working on shareable stories and content that could last longer than 24 hours, even permanently. Users could make public posts longer lasting, in an effort to give Snapchat more influence on social media and beyond. For instance, these longer pieces of content could potentially have embed codes for use in news stories, blog posts, websites and more. Plus, Snapchat is looking at ways to identify user accounts more effectively to match such content with the rightful creators. This is one aspect that could result in major backlash for Snapchat. The 2019 Juno music awards , Canada’s version of the Grammys, just announced its list of nominees. Historically, dance music has played a large part in the awards show, with Adventure Club, Deadmau5 and more receiving recognition for their work. Last year, Rezz received a Juno for ‘Electronic Album of the Year’ for  Mass Manipulation . This year, Rezz is nominated once again for her work on her sophomore album,  Certain Kind Of Magic .
