Gorillaz have officially announced their forthcoming documentary, Reject False Icons . The movie is the first-ever, all-access, immersive journey into the world of Gorillaz and the band’s extended family. Gorillaz promise never-before-seen-footage where “the virtual meets the real,” as their music project tends to do. In his debut feature, director Denholm Hewlett follows the band’s every move for three years, covering the making of two critically acclaimed albums, Humanz and The Now Now , and a world tour. The Chainsmokers are executive producers of a new television series, ‘ Demo .’ The duo consisting of  Alex Pall and Drew Taggart are reportedly working on the drama, currently in the development stages at Freeform . ‘Demo’ follows an aspiring songwriter making her way through the music business, something The Chainsmokers can certainly relate to and provide insight on. The main character leaves her family and indie rock band behind to pursue her dreams of writing pop songs in Los Angeles. She soon finds that the best songs are the ones that tell the deepest truths — and she needs to find her own. The Chainsmokers are known for being open and honest in their music, and storytelling is definitely one of their greatest strengths. It will be interesting to see how this plays out on screen. They join fellow executive producers, Kick the Habit ‘s Dan Marcus and Adam Alpert and Stampede ‘s Greg Silverman , Paul Shapiro and Cara Fano  for the new project.   Source: Hollyw

Sullivan King’s Thank You For Raging tour hit Roseland Theater in Portland on Black Friday and to say he threw down is probably putting it lightly. Even this security guard couldn’t resist moshing it out in the crowd — and the video below captures the exact moment it happened. This month, Forbes   released its list of Highest-Paid Country Acts 2019 , which includes breakout sensation Lil Nas X . With this, Lil Nas X makes history as both the first openly gay act and the first person of color to make the list. His No. 1 hit song “Old Town Road” earned him $14 million in 2019, ranking him at 18 on the Forbes list. The publication admits its rankings “typically reflect country’s woeful lack of diversity at the top.” However, this year’s list “offers at least a glimmer of hope that things are changing.” Lil Nas X feels it, too — “I feel like [I’m] opening doors for more people,” he revealed to  BBC earlier this year. Daft Punk’s album  Discovery is one of the best collections of songs ever presented in electronic music, and it all begins with this song: “ One More Time .” Today, the classic turns 19 years old. “One More Time” is one of those songs that, even if you don’t listen to electronic music or aren’t even aware of it, you know the song. With the emphatic horns in the intro, and the catchy bassline, plus that iconic vocal, it has become a song synonymous with the rise of dance music culture and the popularity of our favorite robots. The Daft Punk album itself celebrated its 18th anniversary earlier this year, but the single was released three months prior on November 30, 2000. As we near the end of this decade, it’s certainly still a track to look back on fondly. Rezz first debuted her collaboration with Yultron back in September, and now, after a couple months, it’s finally going to see the light of day. This collaboration will be only the second since she released her  Beyond The Senses  EP back in July, the other being her massive collaboration with Malaa, “Criminals.” Of course, whereas “Criminals” capitalized heavily on Malaa’s house roots, the Yultron pairing is able to bring out the inner devil in both of them. Electronic music fans were pleasantly surprised when an  Illenium  song played during the Dallas Cowboys ‘ game against the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Day. A clip of “In Your Arms” with  X Ambassadors rang out during the fourth quarter of the game on CBS . Dutch trance legend Ferry Corsten continues his era of UNITY , this time enlisting American trance pioneers Gabriel & Dresden for the latest collaboration in the series “ I Am You .” The new track is a straight jolt of old school rave vibes and is definitely different from the progressive trance we’re used to from Ferry. However, that’s the point of UNITY, to take in all the different offshoots of trance and combine them into a cohesive sound. “I Am You” hearkens back to the way old-school, opening with a buzzing synth. As G&D explain, it’s actually from a Roland JP-8000 synthesizer, so you hear that vintage sound. The drumbeat in the background is weirdly hypnotic and the vocoded robotic-sounding vocals give the song a weird and ethereal vibe. As the beat pauses, the vocoder states, “Open your eyes to what could be.” From there we get a musical interlude with more of those buzzing low-end synths set against a sort of breakbeat. deadmau5 gets dark and gritty on his latest release, “FALL.” As part of a unexpected run of new singles, the producer just dropped yet another enthralling production. “FALL” follows up “ SATRN ” and “ COASTED ,” all of which have blown us away in very different ways. “FALL” is a stark contrast from these other singles, changing up the vibe drastically from deadmau5’s progressive, melodic masterpieces to a throbbing, underground sound. Diplo might be the hottest new producer in the country scene, but he still gets starstruck. At least, when it’s the legendary Shania Twain we’re talking about. Entertainment Tonight caught up with Diplo and Shania on the red carpet at the 2019 American Music Awards , which aired this past Sunday, November 24 on ABC. The Weeknd already put out one new song this week, and now he’s back with the second, entitled “Blinding Lights,” produced by Max Martin. The  Starboy singer is coming back at the end of 2019 with a renewed vigor and an album in 2020 well in sight. In what he’s calling a new “brain melting psychotic chapter,” in his career, the singles so far have been fairly tame. “Heartless,” released on Tuesday, sounds closer to classic Weeknd fare from  Trilogy than his  Starboy material, but “Blinding Lights” flips that with a pumping ’80s synth-driven beat. Fresh off the release of his debut album  Symbiosis earlier this year, Droptek now officially joins the NCS family with a new single called “New Style.” The single doesn’t take its name lightly. Droptek, known for his dizzying blend of dark and unrelenting properties in drum n bass productions, takes his talents to a new level on “New Style.” It undulates like waves in a storm at sea, with a lead synth that is so perfectly tuned that it captures your attention with the ease of a massive typhoon. Of course, the drum n bass isn’t forgotten, as Droptek effortlessly weaves varying BPMs and tempos into the finished product. He even gets some hip hop/trap vibes in toward the end, as well. The sophomore album from Madeon,  Good Faith , released November 15, has just debuted at #1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic chart! When the album dropped, Your EDM called it “truly a holy experience,” and that still lives up almost two weeks after its release. According to Billboard, the album earned 9,000 equivalent album units to secure its #1 position. Earlier this week, Billboard staff ranked what they considered the top 60 dance songs of the decade. Many of the choices on the list were expected, but the top spot going to Todd Terje’s “Inspector Norse” definitely came as a shock to most. Yesterday, the staff ranked their top 40 dance  albums of the decade — and in an era where streaming and singles became more and more powerful, these albums are truly ones that challenged the status quo and made a name for the artists who released them. When looking back at the best albums of the decade, you have to not only take into account how the album has held up, but also the impact it made at the time it was released. For that reason, albums from Calvin Harris ,  18 Months , and David Guetta ,  Nothing But The Beat , were absolutely necessary inclusions. It’s been a little over a year since  RÜFÜS DU SOL graced the world with their third album,  SOLACE . It was fine enough that it was named our #1 album of 2018 , and the Australian trio has now gone on to become a world-class, and are now GRAMMY-nominated . Now, the group is back with a wildly deep and emotive remix of “The Runner” by Foals. Premiered by SPIN earlier today, the track takes its sweet time in building up to an incredible climax, channeling the original’s chorus and singer Yannis Philippakis’ amazing voice. The remix clocks in at an astonishing nine-and-a-half minutes, only barely shorter than “Innerbloom” by just 10 seconds. Billboard has revealed the 60 Greatest Dance Songs of the Decade … The staff has selected their favorite songs from the past 10 years, though the top pick will probably surprise you. It’s  Todd Terje ‘s “Inspector Norse.” If that doesn’t automatically ring a bell, check out the music video below. From Avicii to Swedish House Mafia , Daft Punk to Skrillex — the following tracks are described as “quintessential bangers.”  LCD Soundsystem ,  Calvin Harris,   TNGHT , Disclosure , and  Kavinsky  and are also included in the top 10. Some other notable tracks — Major Lazer & DJ Snake ‘s “Lean On” featuring  MØ is No. 12, “Ghost Voices” by Virtual Self is No. 18, “Clarity” by Zedd is No. 19, and “Losing It” by Fisher is No. 26. The Chainsmokers brought their World War Joy tour to The Forum in Los Angeles last night for an exciting hometown show. Throughout their 105-minute set, the trio set their crazy stage (shout out Production Club for the design) ablaze — literally — with untamed energy. Toward the beginning of their set, Drew told the crowd they had some surprises in store. Sure enough, a little less than an hour in, they turned toward the stage and announced a special guest:  blink-182 ! “P.S. I Hope You’re Happy” is a song they’ve been playing on the tour so far, but as of last night, the two groups had never actually played it together on stage before. It features vocals from both The Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggart and blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, and both Matt McGuire and Travis Barker played the drums live at the show. With less than four months to go, preparations for the annual event, this coming year returning to its longtime home at Bayfront Park, are in full swing — both on the ground and in the board rooms.
