Las Vegas Breaks Ground On Massive MSG Sphere To Open 2021

Work has begun on the massive, 18,000-seat MSG Sphere at The Venetian in Las Vegas. The new venue is set to change live performance in Sin City as we know it, not to mention the famous skyline.

This spherical structure will be the first of its kind. The MSG Sphere will feature fully programmable, high-tech video screens on the interior and exterior. Plus, top-notch sound capabilities featuring vibrations from a infrasound haptic floor system.

Needless to say, the joint collaboration between Madison Square Garden and Las Vegas Sands will be unlike anything Las Vegas has ever seen — or the world for that matter. During a ceremonial groundbreaking, Governor Brian Sandoval was in attendance where he spoke on the impact of the new venue.

“I was thinking to myself, this truly is the next chapter in the history of the evolution of the entertainment capital of the world,” Sandoval said. “When you’re in the middle of making history, you don’t realize that you’re making it. When you look at the Sphere, it is unlike anything on planet Earth. This will be the first of its kind, right here in Las Vegas, Nevada.”

“Do you suppose when they broke ground for the Eiffel Tower that people knew what it was going to be?” he prompted. “I’m pretty sure they didn’t. I think this is going to be like that.”

The MSG Sphere facility is on pace to open in the 2021 fiscal year.
